New York sea level has rose by more than 30 cm since 1900, average 3 cm per decades, doubled the global increasing rate and will keep raising in the upcoming centuries. The nearly 3000 km coastlines, most of them are developed and populous, is making sea level rise the most worry-some issue in New York.
Hurricane Sandy in 2012 exposed the vulnerability and defenseless of New York to the damage of coastal storm. As sea level is rising, which indicates that coastal storm will be more severe and frequent, New York City launched a climate adaptation plan in 2013 in order to decrease vulnerability and gain resilience.
