Sea Level Rising Impeded City of Sydney Transport System
Sea level rising could limit and impact
foreshore areas access which significantly reduce the liveability of an area. This mieans traditional transport methods such as train, ferries, light rail and
buses are not available to transit residents in the flood event.
Based on TransFigures which was adopted by
Bureau of Transport Statics in Jan 2013. In Sydney, approximately 10% of journeys
on average weekday are made by public transport in comparison to driving. The
number of train users is 366,000 which equal 6.7% of the population.
Flood hazard of train line and train station could directly cause inconvenience for commuter who attend education and working.
The train station will look like the photo above in 2300

Rising of Sea Level may bring about flood basement which could result not only damages of vehicles but also reducing accessibility.

Based on the historic data of flooding , Sea Level Rising is considered a long-term risk to residents and commuters of City of Sydney. It will significantly limit accessibility of not only foreshore area but also area are affected by flood. It is extremely important to understand the risk of impeded transport caused by Sea Level Rising and proposing suitable adaptation or mitigation action plans..
